Some are suggesting that because Phil Parlock has had run-ins with Democrats before that this incident is phony and even that the union thug who tore up the sign was one of Phil's sons.
You really want to tell me that either of these two people is the same as the last person?

Union Thug:

Son 1 is the better match, but I really don't think they're even close.
--Addendum--
I'll direct people to Michelle Malkin's site where they'll see "'That's ridiculous. This is a small town,' Parlock told me from his home in Huntington, W. Virginia. 'Everyone would recognize him.'"
Furthermore, the IUPAT, the union, is investigating. If they discovered that the person had nothing to do with the union or was Parlock's son don't you think they'd be mentioning that instead of apologizing? (A real class act by them.)
Hey, I'm with Malkin. If this all turns out to be a hoax I'll blast the guy, but you're going to have to possess better proof than a fuzzy picture of his sons that kinda, almost, sorta looks something like the guy.

You're in denial.
Posted by: Alex at September 18, 2004 05:20 AMParlock is a repeat offender.
That's his son. And you're a sucker.
Ya got one shred of proof? If so, bring it on. And it'd better be more impressive than "similar things have happened to him in the past" and "his son and the guy are the same basic skin color and age".
Posted by: Rob Bernard at September 18, 2004 07:15 AMCheck out the above URL, where TruthOut.org made the comparison between the "union ruffian" and Parlock's oldest son. They also reference 3 other articles where Parlock just *happens* to have been a main character of Democratic hooliganism. All these incidents happened in 4 different locations and were quoted by the same newspaper?
Sounds like too much of a coincidence for THIS reader!
Check it out.

Posted by: Phil Barnes at September 18, 2004 10:20 AMSet up or not, how many good Republican dads out there, if some big bully just made their little three year old daughter cry, think they'd just stand there with a frowny boo-hoo face on for the cameras as opposed to turning round and decking the guy who did it?
Posted by: Emma at September 18, 2004 12:07 PM1)The Truthout link is simply one more link offering the "kinda, almost, sorta looks something like" offense to impugn Parlock. There's not one solid bit of actual evidence either that the thug was his son or that the past events didn't happen.
2) I'd say the kind of good Republican dad who didn't want to teach his kids that violence was the answer would do that. Standing there in a dignified manner and answering their thuggish behavior with dignity is the perfect response to that, you don't lower yourself to their level, especially in front of your children.
Posted by: Rob Bernard at September 18, 2004 02:38 PMWant more proof it was staged? How bout Parlock leaving the area, going immediately outside to use his cellphone to talk with a reporter that took the picture. When did they exchange information considering the reporter was talking from INSIDE the building and Parlock was near the parking lot? No, he didn't stop on the way out.
Parlock's kid started crying when the Kerry supporters tried holding their signs in front of Parlock, he got pissed and hoisted his daughter on his shoulders and shoved a sign in her hand. She was confused and scared all right but from her Dad's actions.
Huntington has 50,000 people. Small town my rear. Plus many of the supporters were from Ashland, a community about the same size, and other areas in the tri-state.
Sorry to be so aggressive but this crap makes me angry and Phil's been doing it for years. Interesting that no mention has been made of Phil shoving the college kid. Didn't see that but heard about it.
